Access to campaign mailboxes (for campaign volunteers)

This information is for campaign volunteers who are handling campaign mailboxes.

The campaign has several IMAP mailboxes which can be accessed by webmail or via Outlook or any other PC mail program.

The steps for webmail access

1. Go to http://www.beershop.org.uk/webmail. Don't try to use the login box on the side of this page.

If nothing happens it may be because you cannot access the non standard port address. Some employers, colleges and libraries block access. In which case, use the proxy server at http://webmail.beershop.org.uk/ instead. (Note: On 18-apr-2007, this is not active).

2. Enter the username and password for the mailbox. The username is the email address of the mailbox, for example

william.shakespeare+campaigncc.org

Valid usernames include

ink+campaigncc.org

You need to know the password for your account!

3. You will be presented with 3 icons for NeoMail, Horde or SquirrelMail. Choose your favourite program or choose any of them; they all do much the same thing. Before you first use the email, make sure you set your name or you will send out email with the sender's name set to 'your name' or worse. If you are not sure, send an email to your personal account first.

4. Make sure you logout if you are sitting in an internet cafe.

The steps for mail access via Outlook

add a new IMAP mail account
set the display name to your own name e.g. William Shakespeare
set the email address of other mailbox e.g. william.shakespeare+campaigncc.org or ink+campaigncc.org
set the inbound and outbound mail servers to mail.cakeshop.org.uk
set the account name to "ccc" or something more useful
set the password
and finallly click on finish.

then click on properties for that account and set the organisation to 'Campaign against Climate Change' or other appropriate name.

You should try sending yourself an email to verify that the account settings are correct.
