Online Climate Emergency Parliament

Welcome to the Climate Emergency Parliament forum The Climate Emergency Parliament is all about taking the emergency measures on climate change that the government is failing to... in particular a package of radical commitments at the national level that will send a strong positive message to the international community meeting at the Copenhagen Talks at the end of the year. So that means it is focused especially on the immediate and short term - and in particular the short term target of a 10% cuts by the end of 2010 - and measures to achieve that.

We would also like to focus on:

We have started off with some suggestions about how to achieve that 10% by end of 2010 cut and these are the predominant topic threads:

	A million green jobs (programmes for emergency insulation etc...
	Banning all domestic flights by end 2010 (and other aviation reduction measures)
	A 55 mph speed limit (and other ways, of reducing road traffic emissions, e.g. terminating the roads program)
	Halving the cost of public transport (and other ways of moving more travel onto public transport)

	Urgent measures we need to take now but for more long-term solutions that will lead to deep cuts but over a longer time scale than just the end of 2010.
	An immediate government sponsored emergency information campaign (for example, X hours of prime time TV per week explaining the seriousness of the climate crisis, a booklet to every household etc. etc.)
?	Other ideas - your ideas - for what we should be doing now to deal with the Climate Emergency.

The purpose of the Climate Emergency Parliament is to engage as many people as possible in a discussion around the radical political action we need to avert catastrophic climate change, so please register and let the world know what you would do if you were in Number 10.
