Hi

There have been a number of problems in getting the forums up and running. It is taking time, and is very frustrating. However things are being worked on behind the scenes.

I have just realised that a number of new members have not had the forum notification setting available, in other words the thing that allows you to get notifications of postings. So these have been turned on. You can go in to your own profile and tweak.

The image picker is now working, so you should be able to put up a picture of yourself (or some sort of image). This helps when networking and communicating.

Please report any faults as well.

I think I have been excluded. I have stopped getting postings.

Wehn I go into subscriptions is showed nothing. If I have been excluded this means that other people will have been.

I have now been sent a subscription up date option for this forum because I have done a posting. But that is not good enough. I want to be subscribed to all.

For example my good friend Peter has just posted something on Transition Towns and I want to know about it.

I have received no alerts.

Dear Friend

Many  people have previously registered on the Campaign against Climate change discussion forum but are not receiving postings from the forums. We have taken the liberty of activating this facility and you will receive one posting every day showing all the postings that have happened. (No posting if all is quiet). This setting can be altered by clicking on “Manage my subscriptions” at the bottom of this notification. Refer also to http://portal.campaigncc.org/content/how-change-e-mail-alerts for additional help

Can I suggest that you have a browse and join in? We need one another!!

Note in particular that the Vestas workers are calling for a National Day of Action on September 17, see http://portal.campaigncc.org/content/save-vestas-wind-turbine-plant

We would also be interested to hear what you have to say about organising for the December the 5th March around Copenhagen. Is anything being done in your area? Are people organising with Stop Climate Chaos? See http://portal.campaigncc.org/content/preparing-december-5th

The other thing I would like to draw your attention to is your profile. There seems to be a tradition developing on the internet whereby people ‘hide’ behind assumed names (avatars) and it makes the operation of the forums more abstract and anonymous. If you identity is not obvious it would help us you went into your user setting and entered your names, so we have some idea of who you are and there is also a field to indicate where you come from. It is also possible to add a picture of yourself. Of course some people don’t want to give this level of detail and we understand.

If you have queries or having problems changing settings do not hesitate to contact me using the contact facility on this site. Click on my name then the contact tab. If appropriate put it in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) forum see http://portal.campaigncc.org/content/faqs-frequently-asked-questions-about-using-forum

Have fun!!

All the best
