Personally i thought the enterprise worked really well - in the workshops i attended the presentations, debate afterwards and exchange of ideas was inspiring, informative and wide ranging. Ditto for the plenary - which leads me on to the nuclear question and our campaigns lack of position on it. Now correct if I'm wrong Michael Meacher received one of the loudest rounds of applause when he said "THE PM SUPPORTING NUCLEAR AGAINST RENEWABLES IS A DISGRACE, AS IS HIS COMMITMENT TO AIR TRAVEL". I have always maintained that the nuclear option plays no part in the solution to climate change - nuclear power stations only exist to make nuclear weapons anyway and the whole session had a distinctly anti-nuclear feel to me - so i really think at some point we are going to have to have a position on the nuclear issue. Currently it's to ambiguous (i think) - the soil association eventually came out against GM -i see no reason why we can't debate this properly.... perhaps in conjuction with this little suggestion for future AGMs The sorts of questions being raised around motions, constitutions, membership the whole caboodle really - are vitally important, far to important to be bolted on to the last hour. I think we need to have a proper day of it, where we can get this sort of thing tidied up and formalised. Anyway As Mark Lynas said I'm looking forward to making it happen, Speak soon Mark |
