This graph from the film THE GREAT GLOBAL WARMING SWINDLE is used to support the argument that there is a time lag between Global Warming and Carbon Dioxide accumulation in the atmosphere. This was used in the film to assert that Global Warming causes Carbon Dioxide Emissions, and not the other way around. Before the era of humankind, Climate cycles were caused by changes in the Sun's activities, volcanic eruptions and the development and multiplication of oxygen-emitting lifeforms. These natural changes resulted in periods of Global Warming, which caused certain parts of the Biosphere to be less efficient at holding onto Carbon Dioxide, so it was emitted into the atmosphere. So yes, in the prehistoric past Global Warming (caused mostly by the Sun) caused Carbon Dioxide Emissions. In the modern era, however, Carbon Dioxide Emissions by humans tampering with forests and oceans and burning Fossil Fuels have been shown to lead to increased Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere, and this has lead to Global Warming. Therefore, in the present day, Carbon Dioxide Emissions come before, and cause, Global Warming. The "signal" on the Climate from Carbon Dioxide from burning Fossil Fuels in the modern era is far larger than any other cause, including the changes in the Sun's influence.
