Campaign against Climate Change

Hundreds of followers of The Mexican Green Party (Partido Verde Ecologista de México) realized a march and demonstrations in front of the Embassies of Australia and United States. The President of the Green Party , Senator Jorge Emilio González Martínez, delivered letters addressing the Ambassadors Neil Allan Mules and Antonio Garza, in order to exhort their governments to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. Besides this action taken as part of an international effort against climate change, the Mexican Green Party (PVEM) has promote in the Federal Congress a body of law initiatives that enables the government to have public programs in order to improve the quality of the air and to protect the atmosphere, such as the use of renewable alternative energies in the generation of electricity . Senator González Martínez told the media that the participation of the Mexican Green Party (PVEM) in this international day of action, also responded to the fulfillment of a commitment to promote the Global Ecological Agreement approved last October by the Federation of Green Parties of the Americas. This document asks the international community to summon efforts to create a mechanism similar to the Kyoto Protocol in order to protect the tropical forests, natural consumers of CO2 are essential to the reduction of the emissions that create the global warming
