Greenpeace have managed to obtain leaked documents which show that a rightwing US thinktank, sponsored by Exxon Mobil are paying (or rather were, as of January 2005, planning to pay) people to target in particular UK-based web-blogs and environmental groups and journalists. They may target tactics, not just science (ie they may agree with the science but argue that targets are the wrong approach, I imagine).
I'll post this on the main CCC Forum, too. It's worth remembering this background, if we do come across climate sceptics or people opposing a target-changed approach - we've already had an Australian sceptic getting onto the CCC Scotland yahoo group at one point.

Thankfully there is no need to win over the sceptics; they're past the pale anyway; we need only concentrate on persuading a handful of influential men and women... To quote G B Shaw:
"Reasonable men adjust to their surroundings, while unreasonable men expect their surroundings to adjust to them. Since progress involves changing the way things are to better suit man, all progress in the world has been made by unreasonable men."
Climate sceptics are actually akin to the reasonable men in this passage - protectors of the status quo who see change as impractical. It isn't - merely difficult. As the French students of 1968 said: Be Realistic - Demand the Impossible! :)

Can anyone tell me where all these climate sceptics get paid, it sounds a great deal, but I've yet to meet anyone who got paid to be a sceptic. On the other hand, working in the wind industry, there were hundreds of people who got loads of money for being "pro-warming" and I must admit, for a time I went along and got paid like the rest. But now I've actually gone and checked the facts, and I'm fed up of spending my own money trying to educate these naive environmentalists.
