Fundraising and charitable status for CCC

The Co-operative Bank is running a new Campaign for 2006 called 'Combating Climate Change' in partnership with Friends of the Earth. They will be running this Campaign throughout 2006 and in their literature they quote David King saying Climate Change is a more serious threat than terrorism and also talk about the 10 years to act scenario. There are two actions CCC members can take in relation to this campaign: 1) Join the Co-op bank if you're not already a member; 2) If you are a member then you can nominate charities for donations the Co-op will be making at the end of 2006 - go to: www.co-operativebank.co.uk/cwc.

I know that CCC isn't a charity but a campaigning group, but CCC could set up a charitable arm - plenty of campaigning groups do this to get around this piece of legislation and own a Reg. charity no. I'm sure that the Co-op would then be able to give you some financial support - last year their campaign was Trade Justice and they donated to People & Planet and WDM...

With the Co-op campaigning last year on Trade Justice and making 2006 their year to campaign on Climate Change it really does seem as if at last the issue is becoming 'fashionable'!

An item for the national planing meeting

Having a charity arm is one item up for discussion, for which having a properly constituted organisation is a prerequisite. No doubt this issue will be raised at the forthcoming national planning meeting.

Got positive reply from co-op

I emailed them and they said other cacc supporters had already emailed them so thanks for the lead, will persue with Hilary Gander.
