New Nuclear Energy is a Parasite on Effective Climate Change Solutions

Climate Change will impact our ability to operate Nuclear Power Stations, since they all rely on water for cooling, and the actual height of the water, in the seas and rivers, could start to become very random and unpredictable...

At Sizewell in Suffolk, for example, site of Britain's most modern reactor, the prediction is for the most severe storm surges to be 1.7 metres higher in 2080 than at present.

And at Dungeness in Kent, the storm surge increase could be up to 0.9 metres.

Personally i thought the enterprise worked really well - in the workshops i attended the presentations, debate afterwards and exchange of ideas was inspiring, informative and wide ranging. Ditto for the plenary - which leads me on to the nuclear question and our campaigns lack of position on it. Now correct if I'm wrong Michael Meacher received one of the loudest rounds of applause when he said "THE PM SUPPORTING NUCLEAR AGAINST RENEWABLES IS A DISGRACE, AS IS HIS COMMITMENT TO AIR TRAVEL".

All civilisations end with large building projects that go wrong. If we want to beat Climate Change, we really must abandon ideas that construction can save us, particularly the construction of nuclear power plants :-

You know how it is - you're sat waiting for a train that's nearly an hour away because some poorly managed engineering works have completely ruined the normal timetable - and so you get to cogitating, ruminating, pondering, musing... so I wrote a letter to my MP about how Nuclear Power is not the answer to Climate Change. I've sent it via http://www.theyworkforyou.com and I've posted it on a little-known and rarely-accessed website http://www.workface-limited.co.uk/html/antinuclear.html and I feel so much better now.

The Commons Environmental Audit Committee is calling for the forecast energy gap mostly to be filled by a new wave of gas-fired power stations.

Firstly, i would never consider voting for the tories.

Now that it clear, i will explain just how pleased i am that David Cameron is talking about Climate Change.

I shall start by mentioning a few facts:

1. Climate change is a huge problem.
2. Policy makers i.e thinktanks/advisory boards/many mps/the people at DEFRA...know this.
3. Although strongly manifest now in some areas of the world the problem of climate change will only have severe and widley noticeable impacts in the uk over the medium to long term.

This was all objective, and hopefully not to contencious.
