During Week 9 of term at LSE, world leaders will meet in Bali to discuss reducing global greenhouse gas emissions and the LSESU will be running a week of events - free and open to all - in the run up to the Saturday 8th December worldwide climate change demonstrations to raise awareness of and promote action for a low carbon world!

The Government is circulating a draft Climate Change Bill for public consultation.

Please respond to the consultation after considering the critique of the bill made in the DVD “An Incontestable Truth – Contraction and Convergence the Irreducible Response to Climate Change” published and circulated by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change”.

The new Contraction & Convergence DVD will be launched officially in the House of Commons in Westminster on Wednesday 28th March 2007.

The petition calls for international adoption of Contraction and Convergence, and the adoption of Carbon Rationing to ensure we hit our UK targets. You can add you names at the link below:

The aim is to keep pushing this petition over the coming year, try and get some momentum going, so by next year's climate talks we have a significant petition to put before Gordon Brown or Tony Blair or whoever is PM at the time.

A coalition of NGOs and groups has announced the Durban Declaration on Carbon Trading, with the publication of a new book exposing the pitfalls of North-South emissions trading.

UK signatories include Forest Peoples Programme, London Rising Tide, Rising Tide, Scottish Education and Action for Development, and TRAPESE – Take Radical Action Through Popular Education and Sustainable Everything.
