Climate Change Refugees are Already With Us

Hello All

This is from Guardian online (Tuesday 5 June) and just goes to show you that wild weather is not the only cause of displacement. This scenario is really shocking and distressing. All the more reason to reject biofuels as a solution.

Reflections on the 2007 Conference

Well I thought this year's conference, which ended yesterday was absolutely great.

UK scientists want changes to climate documentary
Updated Wed. Apr. 25 2007 3:53 PM ET

LONDON -- A group of British climate scientists is demanding changes to a skeptical documentary about global warming, saying there are grave errors in the program billed as a response to Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth."

Plug for CCC web-site in Guardian - 11th November

I just wanted to say that I had a letter published in yesterday's Guardian (Sat. 11th Nov.) in the 'Money' section with a plug for people to use any extra spare time to help CCC campaign against climate change and they even printed CCC's web-site address! I didn't win the £25 book token though!

Personal Effects Question:

"I want to reduce my carbon footprint, but almost all of the virtuous changes that I might make mean I will have more money in my pocket. If I take fewer flights, spend less on food miles, insulate my house and use only public transport I will have lots of spare cash. How do I spend it without producing more CO2?"

2006/7/13 Getting Creative! Minutes from the N4 Planning Meeting

We had a creative evening at Housman's Bookshop on 13th July 2006. We gathered to discuss our plans for 4th November 2006, when we will be taking part in what we predict will be the United Kingdom's largest ever environmental demonstration.

Guardian Piece on Marching - 16th January

Madeleine Bunting is obviously concerned about the complete lack of meaningful action on Climate Change. To this end she has a go at Government and Environmental organisations. Although she mentions 'Stop Climate Chaos' with reference to their wanting to mimic the MPH campaign, she says they have been ineffectual. I can't really disagree with her article but was disappointed she didn't mention CCC. The reason I was disappointed is because she complains no-one is marching to prevent climate catastrophe.

I've just sent a letter to the 'Guardian' letters page, letting them know that CCC is doing what she asked and explained that in the space of 10 months CCC managed to increase numbers marching in London from 1,000 to 10,000, and 100,000 worldwide. I mentioned the forthcoming March in November and invited her to join us.
